Tycho (San Francisco)

There’s no denying Scott Hansen is the full monty. A renowned photographer and graphic designer under the banner ISO50, Hansen has also spent the last dozen years as an Ambient sonic sculptor, releasing music as Tycho. An injury in his mid-20s required Hansen to take a two-month break from design, leading him to create The Science of Patterns, his debut EP. Although he has continually recorded and released music, Hansen/Tycho maintains that he wasn’t completely serious about music until four years ago, a period that includes the acclaimed Dive in 2011, 2013’s Fragments/Ascension (a split EP with Thievery Corporation) and the just released Awake. Tycho has recently morphed from solo entity to band in live performance, an extension of Hansen’s organic instrumental focus in the studio.
