Twinsmith (Omaha, Neb.)
Indie Rock

Talk about taking the fast track. Omaha’s Twinsmith released its eponymous debut album last summer, and mere weeks later were signed to prestigious indie label Saddle Creek (home of Conor Oberst’s hall of fame-worthy Bright Eyes). The instant success is something of a misnomer though; the Twinsmith album was the work of Jordan Smith and Matt Regner, while their expansion to a full band, with the addition of bassist Bill Sharp and drummer Oliver Morgan, is reflected in the sound of Twinsmith’s latest 7-inch, Honestly. They call their sound Surf Pop, but it’s considerably more complex and crunchy than Surf’s linear simplicity and relative homogeneity. Even so, Twinsmith will make you believe that, even in the dead center of the country, the surf is indeed up.
