Gizmo (Los Angeles)
Neo Soul/Fusion/Hip Hop

Kenneth Rodgers began playing bass as a child, eventually earning comparisons to Stanley Clarke and Jaco Pastorious. He is a Berklee College of Music graduate, has worked with Talib Kweli, Victor Wooten and Meshell Ndegeocello and is currently reinventing Neo Soul within the context of his own unique R&B/Hip Hop/poetry slam vision. He operates under the nom du soul Gizmo, and his Jazz/Soul fusionist debut, 2012’s Red Balloon, was acclaimed as the work of a genre-hopping prodigy. Last year’s The Middle EP was similarly diverse (check his Fusion take on Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun”) and well received. Did we mention that he’s 23 years old? See Gizmo and make him prove it. He will.

YDIIYD: Vernon Reid and Stanley Clarke make a Jazz noise here, there and everywhere. (BB)
